Unfortunaely there is no other easy way to stop spamming. Even with those captchas, it takes about 5-15 minutes every day to get rid of spam or junk posts. Without captchas, we wouldnt have time anymore to bother about anything else but deleting spam. We're looking into less intrusive captchas, but at the moment this is what we've to use.
